Why not enjoy a great day out at the races, Pontefract races runs April to November every year with sixteen fixtures to choose from.Admission prices range from £4 to £20 depending on which enclosure you choose and family tickets are also available. Car parking is free and specific areas in the enclosures are wheelchair friendly.

Some enclosures have access to the parade ring and the winners enclosure and various bars are available including a champagne bar.There is also a picnic enclosure ideal for families with children which provides a variety of childrens rides on weekend and evening fixtures. Each enclosure provides its own catering and hospitality options offering a variety of different products.

The races is a wonderful experience and its amazing to watch the horses running full throttle around the course, you can even add to the excitement by placing a small bet and shouting your horse home at the finish line.

Details of the next fixtures are usually displayed on a large board on the main road at the side of the entrance and exit to the race course.

Pontefract race course also offers a wide variety of things to do such as a walk or run around the course via the pathway and a childrens park. There are also sports available including bowls, football and rugby pitches and tennis courts. The vast open space is also ideal for a large family picnic or just for the children to run around.
