Country Walk

There are lots of places to go in the Wakefield and Pontefract area for an aternoon walk and a bit of fresh country air. What a great way to get the children outdoors and enjoy the local wildlife. Newmillerdam situated in the village of Newmillerdam in Wakefield is one of the most beautiful places to walk in the area, the lake is the perfect platform to base your walk around and not only are the views completeley breathtaking you can also enjoy plenty of wildlife along the way.

Why not enjoy a great day out at the races, Pontefract races runs April to November every year with sixteen fixtures to choose from.Admission prices range from £4 to £20 depending on which enclosure you choose and family tickets are also available. Car parking is free and specific areas in the enclosures are wheelchair friendly.

Pugney’s country park is available all year round and is situated on Denby Dale Road at junction 39. The large lake provides a variety of water sports and hiring of equipment is done via the water sports centre situated in the park. Here you can hire kayaks, pedaloes, dinghies, canoes and windsurfers etc to try out on the water.
