The Britain’s Got Talent final viewing figures peaked at over 14 million viewers, with a 57% share of the audience, to see Jai McDowall win the 2011 contest.

The Scottish singer won the show after his performance of the Josh Groban song To Where You Are. The support worker wins the coveted spot at The Royal Variety Performance as well as the £100,000 first prize.

Ronan Parke, who was at the centre of a rigging controversy, finished runner-up and teen boy band New Bounce came in third place.

Other finalists included breakdancer Razy Gogonea, guitarist and singer Michael Collings, pianist Paul Gbegbaje, comedy dancer Steven Hall, dancer James Hobley, impressionist Les Gibson, and organist Jean Martyn.

According to mirror.co.uk, the average viewing figures for the results show was 12.5 million slightly higher than the 12.3 million in 2010.

The audience peaked at 14 million with 13.4 million watching live and over 600,000 watching on ITV+1, ratings are down on the 2009 final, when Diversity pipped Susan Boyle, which drew over 19 million viewers. musicroom reported online.
