Another 1,100 jobs at risk

Auto Windscreens has gone into administration, putting 1,100 jobs at risk. A message on the Auto Windscreens website said that three administrators from accountancy firm Deloitte have been appointed to take charge of the affairs, business and property of the company.

The statement added that ‘all operations have been temporarily suspended’ but hoped ‘to resume shortly’ and urged customers to find alternative suppliers.

Auto Windscreens operates a network of fitting centres throughout the country as well as mobile units and has an annual turnover of more than £60 million.

Deloitte was called in because of trading and cash-flow problems at the Chesterfield-based company and after one of its biggest customers terminated its contract. Talks with potential partners to secure funding had been taking place but the loss of such a large customer forced the company to fold.

Matt Cowlishaw, a partner in Deloitte’s reorganisation services team in the Midlands, told the Press Association: “It is extremely disappointing to see such a well-known business enter administration. The company worked extremely hard to try and recapitalise the business, but unfortunately this could not be achieved in the time available. Source – autoblog
